Generally, women are more prone to bladder inflammation than men. This is because women's urethra is shorter and placed closed to the anus, which is simply opposite in case of men. Since women's urethra is closer to the anus there is every possibility of bacteria entering the urethra there by causing inflammation of the bladder. Pregnant women are more susceptible to bladder infection. Apart from them, those who use a diaphragm of birth control can get such disease easily.

Besides these, there are other factors that can also lead to bladder infection in women as well as men. Having sex with multiple partners is one of the causes. One of the preventive steps is to clean your genitals regularly. It is also very important to abstain from having sex with multiple partners. Besides these, one must drink lots of fluids barring alcohol and caffeine. Drinking Cranberry juice can also help one to ward off bladder infection. It is also a wise decision to wear cotton underwear as cloths made out of other materials might lead to infection in the bladder. The antibiotic medicines may help one to get a relief from the disease but in many cases they fail to stop the recurrence of the disease.
